The village defibrillator is located on the wall of the Greyhound pub, in the car park, on the corner of the A340 and Mill Lane.

Local Government Reorganisation Proposals
There are currently 2 draft proposals for local government reorganisation that would affect Tidmarsh and Sulham; one from West Berkshire Council (WBC) and the second from Reading Borough Council (RBC). Both councils are seeking residents' views before progressing to formal approval by their respective Council members, and submission to the Government no later than 28 November 2025.

West Berkshire's Domestic Abuse Giving Tree
West Berkshire is supporting the annual Giving Tree appeal once more, part of the global White Ribbon Campaign, which works to end violence against women and children.

From September 22nd 2025, West Berkshire is moving to a three-weekly black bin collection.

Planet Library
Planet Library is an app for children, enabling them to search the library catalogue, reserve books, and renew their loans safely. The app also includes lots of games and enables users to collect digital rewards. There are virtual Planet Library characters hidden in library buildings too, which the app will help you to find. Download Planet Library from your usual app store, log in as a West Berkshire Libraries member, and start using it today.

Garden Waste Collection Service
If you would like WBC to collect garden waste from your home, you must subscribe to their paid-for garden waste collection service. The 2025/26 garden waste collection service runs until Sunday 23 August 2026.

Electrical Item Reuse at Padworth and Newbury Recycling Centres
West Berkshire Council, in partnership with Veolia, has teamed up with Green Machine Computers to launch an electrical reuse scheme at both Household Waste Recycling Centres in Padworth and Newtown Road, Newbury.
Residents can now drop off used mobile phones, tablets, laptops, and desktop computers at dedicated collection points at either site, giving their old devices a new lease of life.
Once collected, Green Machine Computers will securely remove any data before passing reusable items to The Tech Hub in Hungerford. From there, they will be made available, free of charge or at low cost, to charities and people in need, ensuring technology reaches those who need it most. Any items that cannot be reused will be responsibly recycled.
Ukranian Refugee Support
The Greenham Trust have set up an appeal on The Good Exchange to provide local funding to support families arriving in West Berkshire. Greenham Trust and West Berkshire Council have committed to each contributing £25,000 in match funding, ensuring public, corporate and trust/foundation donations to this appeal are matched £1 for £1 for the first £50,000 raised.

Footway Improvement Programme 2025-26
WBC's Environment Administration Team are scheduling some footway preservation works to various footpaths around the area, starting 23rd June 2025.
Tidmarsh and Sulham are not listed (see the Works Sheet), but works will be taking place in some parts of Pangbourne, Tilehurst, and Calcot.

Local Transport Plan - Consultation
WBC issued its draft new Local Transport Plan for consultation in the Communities. The deadline for the consultation period was midnight on Sunday, 25th May 2025.

NHS Volunteer Responders was set up to support the NHS during the COVID-19 outbreak. They use an 'army' of volunteers to support the work of the NHS.

Fireworks in our Villages
Fireworks are now set off throughout the year and are louder and more spectacular than ever.
However, they can terrify animals, causing needless pyschological and physical suffering in cattle, horses, ponies, dogs, and cats, all of which we have in and around Tidmarsh and Sulham.
The law states: "It is an offence under the Animal Welfare Act 2006 to cause any unnecessary suffering to any captive or domestic animal. Fireworks must not be set off near livestock or horses in fields or close to buildings that house livestock. The offence carries a fine of up to £20,000 and/or a prison term of up to six months. The act is enforced by local councils, animal health officers, and the police".
