Tidmarsh with Sulham summer fete
Saturday 31 July 2010
(note the new date)
This year's fete will be hosted by Tidmarsh and we have a change of venue. The fete will be held at Mill Corner Farm, Mill Lane. One of the reasons for moving the fete from the Village Green was that we were unable to hold the ever-popular dog show there (not to mention the problems with electricity and water!) these issues have all been overcome and we hope that the sun will shine and we will have a fantastic turnout!
As in previous years, the money raised at the fete will be put to funding repairs to our church, St Laurence's which in part (the nave) dates from the 12th Century. Maintaining a building such as this requires a constant supply of cash and this event is key to ensuring the fund is topped up. There is an excellent booklet all about the history of the church and Tidmarsh which has recently been reprinted and is available from the church it is well worth reading.
The fete will commence at 1 pm and there will be a barbeque in full swing to enable everyone to come early and have lunch. Afternoon teas will be served throughout and there will be a beer tent and Pimms bar. All the tried and trusted stalls will be present and, as ever, we rely on donations from everyone from raffle prizes to cakes to unwanted goods (good quality please!) for the White Elephant to plants for the plant stall. Please feel free to drop off any donations for the above, AT ANYTIME, to Jenny Cope at Mill Corner. Please, please, take the time to donate something the more we have the more we can sell!
Taking advantage of the fact that Mill Corner is bordered by the River Pang, we will be having a Duck Race! I have seen these done in villages in Surrey and they really are great fun come early to secure your duck!
We will all be working really hard to make this day a fantastic success and a really fun day out for all the family so please bring your friends and family along to support it!
